Template:Building

"It was at this time that an end came of the Dúnedain of Cardolan, and evil spirits out of Angmar and Rhudaur entered into the deserted mounds and dwelt there."
Appendix A, The Lord of the Rings

Barrows are corrupted tombs of Arnorian nobles and kings, perverted by the witchcraft of Angmar. They can be built on settlements and upgraded to suit your play style. They also have a tunnel system for Karsh and Wights.

Gruft 2

Level Up Upgrades

Dazing Veil - Enemies near the Barrow inflict 30% less damage and are slowed by 30%; grants level 2 (cost: 150)

Enlarged Grave Chamber - Increases resource production by 33%. Allies in a wide radius gain twice as much experience in battle; grants level 2 (cost: 150)

Curse of the Barrow-Wight - Enable Curse of the Barrow-Wight, which paralyzes nearby enemies with fear; grants level 3 (cost: 300)

Enlarged Treasure Chamber - Increases resource production by 50%. Allies in a wide radius gain resources from slain enemies; grants level 3 (cost: 300)

You can upgrade this building only twice. The first time you must choose one of the first three upgrades, and the second time you must choose one of the second three upgrades.

Function

The Barrow produces resources like the Hillmen Village and Orc Camp, but it also offers some other bonuses.

Resource Production

The Barrow is a basic settlement resource building.

Abilities

Tribute to the Iron Crown: Recruitment buildings of Angmar can be upgraded to level 2 and 3 by collecting tribute from the Witch-King's vassals. Orc Camps, Hillmen Villages, Barrows, and Outposts spawn tribute carts every 4 minutes that can be sent into any recruitment structure to upgrade it and generate resources. (Passive ability)

(For other passive abilities, see the descriptions of the upgrades above.)

Spell of the Barrow-Wight: Awaken Barrow-wights for a short time. Their awakening stuns enemies with fear. Requires the Curse of the Barrow-Wight upgrade.

Additionally, the Barrow can be garrisoned by Wights and Karsh, functioning much like a Dwarven Mineshaft by allowing instant travel between Barrows.

Bonus

The Barrow provides a reduction to the cost of Barrow-wights up to 30%:

  • 2 Barrows: 10%
  • 3 Barrows: 15%
  • 4 Barrows: 20%
  • 5 Barrows: 25%
  • 6 or more Barrows: 30%
