The Gondorian military force was arguably the strongest force to oppose Sauron and Mordor during the War of the Ring. The Gondor Soldiers are the basic infantry units of the Gondor faction and are equipped with metal armor and metal shields but these can only hold out against a few hits, they must be upgraded with heavy armor in order to resist better. They can be recruited from the Barracks from which they will emerge in battalions of 15 units.
The Gondor Soldiers can be given the following upgrades:
- Other infantry if they are swordsmen
- Monsters and Cavalry if they are pikemen
- Buildings if they are cavalry
When Denethor's "State of Emergency" ability is in effect, Gondor Soldiers may be recruited 50% cheaper but are unable to receive any upgrades. They are also unable to use their "Shield Wall Formation" ability.
Strategy EditGondor Soldiers are the most basic Gondor units. They are cheap, so you can spam them if you have the resources needed for it. They are strong against pikemen, so you can use them to protect your cavalry from them. They can remain useful until late-game, but the Dol Amroth Soldiers outclass them. In addition, they are inferior to Tower Guards even though those are meant to be elite pikemen. In summary, you can use them early game to rush the enemy but should consider investing in more elite units for the late game.
