"A little people, but of great worth are the Shire-folk,' said Halbarad. 'Little do they know of our long labour for the safekeeping of their borders, and yet I grudge it not. "
Halbarad, The Return of the King

Halbarad leads the Dúnedain of the North to fight for Imladris. He was among the Rangers who guarded the Shire in the years prior to the War of the Ring.

Halbarad can be recrutied from the Dunedain Outpost once the Troop Tent has been recruited.

Upgrades Edit

No Upgrades
This hero has no upgrades. This means that this hero can not gain any sort of permanent boost from upgrades found in either its palantir or from other units/heroes. If this is not the case, fill in the section following the policy.

Strategy Edit

Halbarad is the ultimate unit support hero for Imladris' Dunedain units: he can make them train faster, offers them leadership bonuses, and provides them with the ability to purchase their upgrades. He should therefore obviously be used near Dunedain to increase their usefulness. He can support them with either the bow or the sword, adding to his versatility as a hero. To ambush or escape his enemies, he can summon a ring of archers which will slow down any units they target. With his level 10 ability, Halbarad offers an extra bonus to Dunedain Rangers by allowing them to shoot and move faster, great for covering a retreat or ambushing enemy forces (just like his level 7 ability, Dunedain Ambuscade).

Mechanics in Gondor Edit

"I have thirty with me,' said Halbarad. 'That is all of our kindred that could be gathered in haste; but the brethren Elladan and Elrohir have ridden with us, desiring to go to war. We rode as swiftly as we might when your summons came."
Halbarad, The Return of the King

In response to a message sent to Rivendell by Galadriel, Halbarad led the Grey Company comprised of 30 Dúnedain and the Sons of Elrond south to the aid of their kinsman Aragorn. Halbarad was then killed in the Battle of the Pelennor Fields.

With the Gondor faction, you can summon him temporarily to the battlefield using spellbook power The Grey Company (6pp).

Abilities Edit

Level 1: Dúnedain Banner Bearer: Halbarad proudly bears the Banner of Arwen Undomiel. Nearby heroes and units are passively healed and gain experience twice as fast. All heroes near Halbarad will recharge their abilities 25% faster. (Passive ability)

Strategy Edit

Because of his hero-boosting ability, when Halbarad is summoned in the Gondor faction, he should be kept close to your heroes. He will provide them with passive healing and faster ability recharge times. While he does have combat capabilities, he can die quickly if not managed well. Try to keep him out of combat for the most part since he has a longer timer than other summonable heroes. The longer he is present, the longer your heroes get his bonus.
