"He was interested, however, to hear that Dáin was still King under the Mountain, and was now old (having passed his two hundred and fiftieth year), venerable, and fabulously rich. "
The Fellowship of the Ring

Recruit King Dáin II Ironfoot, King under the Mountain. He ruled in Erebor after Thorin Oakenshield's death. Before being the King, he was Lord of the Iron Hills.

He is the Ring Hero of Erebor. If he gets the Ring, its whisperings will make him proclaim himself the seventh reincarnation of Durin.

Abilities

Level 1: Baruk Khazad! - For 30 seconds allied units surrounding Dain gain +50% attack and are resistant to fear.

Level 3: Carriage - King Dain Ironfoot summons a Royal Carriage to the battlefield. This carriage is much faster than a standard Battlewagon, and heroes can mount it to get to, or flee from, combat rapidly.

Level 7: Vendetta - Dain leads the units of Erebor in a vendetta, seeking retribution against their hated foes. For 30 seconds, all allied units near a hero of Erebor gain +50% damage.

Level 10: Forces of the Dwaven Kingdoms - Dain calls for aid from the other Dwarf kingdoms of Middle-earth. Permanently summons various units from any of the three dwarven factions.

Ring Mechanics

Level 1: Durin's Heir - Due to the whisperings of the Ring, Dain's pride rises to unfathomable heights, and he declares himself the seventh and last reincarnation of Durin. He puts on mithril mail, gains improved stats and inflicts area damage. The Ring fuels Dain's combativeness and makes him lead the dwarves into a destructive campaign. Allied dwarven units in Dain's vicinity now inflict double damage and are fearless. In return, units that don't fight near to Dain inflict -50% damage.

Level 3: Carriage - King Dain Ironfoot summons a Royal Carriage to the battlefield. This carriage is much faster than a standard Battlewagon, and heroes can mount it to get to, or flee from, combat rapidly.

Level 7: Vendetta - King Dain leads the units of Erebor in a campaign of vengeance against their hated enemies. For 60 seconds, all allied units near a hero of Erebor gain the same doubled damage as if they were next to Dain and no reduced damage anymore. The damage boosts of Dain and other heroes do not stack.

Level 10: Forces of the Dwaven Kingdoms - Dain calls for aid from the other Dwarf kingdoms of Middle-earth. Permanently summons various units from any of the three dwarven factions.

Durin's Forge - Dain calls up flames from the deep in a medium area around him, setting on fire all enemy units caught in his spell.

Strategy

King Dain is the central hero of the dwarves of Erebor. He is an invaluable leader and unit supporter, and can also tank a small army by himself. He can grant +50% damage and fearlessness to nearby dwarves at level 1 and can then summon a carriage which is best used to make heroes retreat from battle, though it can be used for trampling as well. At Level 7 he gains vendetta which is just an improved version of Baruk Khazad as it now applies to all allied heroes. At level 10 he gains a very useful ability which allows him to permanently summon strong reinforcements of many varieties.

Sadly, as ringhero he might ruin your chances of victory as he halves the attack of any units not near him. Hence the way to win is to have Dain lead a small task force of upgraded units and then harass the enemy, but it endangers Dain as he can be killed and the ring can be picked up. Hence if You're fighting Mordor and see the ring, protect it but do not pick it up, letting it disappear. If you leave the ring altogether Mordor might pick it up and get Sauron. If you do pick it up you'll have to keep Dain at the frontlines- which is risky as Mordor might Harass you with hordes of Orcs and eventually kill Dain to summon Sauron and Wreak Havoc.

In ring form he gains no new abilities apart from Durin's forge which DESTROYS all units near him, albeit in a small area.
